One of the trademarks of Healthcare Scene’s conferences has been the opportunity to meet hundreds of your peers at amazing meetups and social events along with excellent educational sessions.  We plan to continue the connection opportunities at Health IT Expo with some casual meetups the day before the official conference and then as part of the formal agenda. It’s always great to get together in a casual environment on Wednesday to meet other attendees and become friends before the full conference agenda begins on Thursday.

Meeting new people during a conference session is hard, so these casual meetups will deeply enhance your conference experience. These meetups have no agenda and are just a time for the community to come together, meet, greet, learn, commiserate, share, and have a little fun.

For those attending the conference, here’s a look at the details for the meetups we have planned:

Wednesday Afternoon Meetup – 5/30/2018 from 3-5 PM – Walking Tour to the New Orleans BioInnovation Center 

Join us for a casual afternoon walking tour to the New Orleans BioInnovation Center (NOBIC). We’ll be meeting at the Marriott New Orleans concierge desk at 3 PM and then walking over to the New Orleans BioInnovation Center as a group.  Once there, we’ll get a brief tour of the space and get a chance to meet some New Orleans based healthcare IT companies.  Plus, you’ll have a chance to meet and connect with other Health IT Expo attendees on the walk over and then at the center.  We’ll finish up at NOBIC about 4:30 where people can head to dinner or back to the NOLA Marriott.

Wednesday Evening Meetup – 5/30/2018 from 7-9:00 PM at the 41st Floor of the New Orleans Marriott

Join us for our Wednesday evening casual meetup on the 41st floor of the New Orleans Marriott conference hotel. The first drink on us! Come and meet your fellow attendees and enjoy a cold beverage, the incredible view, and connect with HITExpo attendees. The first drink is on HITExpo and then a cash bar will also be available from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Thursday Evening Social – 5/31/18 from 7-9:00 PM at The Swamp (map)

Join us for our Thursday Evening Social on the famed Bourbon Street.  We’ve reserved the 2nd floor balcony at The Swamp for our big Thursday Evening event. Join us for an evening of networking and connecting with other attendees. This social will also include an open bar and light appetizers. Rumor has it there may even be some famous NOLA beads available and a dance floor as well.

You can meet us at The Swamp directly, or we’ll be meeting at 6:50 PM in front of the New Orleans Marriott Concierge desk.  Then, we’ll walk over as a group to The Swamp (~9 min walk). If you miss the group or are traveling from somewhere other than the conference hotel, you can join us directly at The Swamp (516 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70130) at 7:00.

Don’t be surprised if the HITExpo community heads to a local NOLA karaoke spot, organizes unofficial dinner groups, schedules morning runs, and other impromptu get-togethers. Keep an eye on the #HITExpo hashtag on Twitter to learn about these spur of the moment events.
