Don Hewitt
Vice President, Business Operations

Don Hewitt is the Principal Consultant for Proconsul, Incorporated.  He has over forty years’ experience in a variety of technical and management disciplines.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Master of Science Degree from the Sloan School of Management, also at MIT.  As a Distinguished Military Graduate, he received a commission in the U.S. Army, where he served for five years.  His final assignment was at the U.S. Army Military Personnel Center, the Army’s largest data processing installation.  He was involved both in software development and planning, and was a co-author of the Army’s Master Plan for Enlisted Systems.


His civilian career has included positions with Computer Sciences Corporation, Storage Technology Corporation, and Network Solutions, Inc.  Since 1985, he has been Principal Consultant at Proconsul, providing management and technical consulting to a variety of large and small business clients, including AT&T, Lucent Technologies, PRC, NCR, and many others.


His most recent client is the Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA), where he has served since 2012 as Vice President, Business Operations.  Formed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), OSEHRA is a non-profit corporation dedicated to building a community of interest around open source healthcare information technology, including VA’s VistA Electronic Health Record system.


In addition to his work with OSEHRA, he is deeply involved with support for the First Responder community, as a consultant to the InterAgency Board (IAB) and the principal editor supporting the IAB’s Standardized Equipment List and FEMA’s Authorized Equipment List.  He also serves on the Board of PatchAdvisor, Inc., a cybersecurity firm he co-founded that specializes in network vulnerability assessment.


Don lives in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife Janet.  He is also a private pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
